‘The Love Gallery’ is a Giclee Print by contemporary artist Dirty Hans. Printed onto fine art paper, the print is from a limited edition of 95, and is signed and numbered by the artist.
Contemporary artist Dirty Hans cites Toulouse-Lautrec and Lichtenstein amongst his greatest influences: an unlikely pairing of art greats, the result is Dirty Hans’ own unique and striking aesthetic, by turns gritty and poppy, in artful measures.
His work riffs off 1950s pop culture, from music to movies to magazines, updating Pop Art styles with an innovative combination of acrylic and spray-paint on canvas, merged with digital techniques.
Reminiscent of Paolo Panini’s Picture Gallery With Views of Modern Rome, Dirty Hans’s print ‘Small Love Gallery’ depicts a room crammed with modern and contemporary art, all with the theme of love: from Robert Indiana’s Classic Sky Love, to smooching Disney characters, Lichtenstein lovers, and John and Yoko, the twentieth century’s greatest tributes to amorous desire are all there.
Dwarfed by the framed icons, the two lovers from Franceso Hayez’s nineteenth century painting, The Kiss, stand anachronistically amidst the modern art, caught in their passionate embrace.
